Herbal baths can do wonders when your head is throbbing. For one thing, they're muscle relaxants, and thus eliminate the tension that contributes to many headaches. Herbs also have chemical properties that have been proven effective at fighting headache pain. (If you find your headaches are recurring or are particularly severe, please talk with your healthcare provider, they might be a sign of a more serious health problem.) Herbs that can help alleviate headache pain include lavender and peppermint. They can be combined with calming or stimulating herbs (try chamomile, eucalyptus, ginger, lemon, marjoram, rose, rosemary or sage) to create a wonderful headache relieving soak.
The next time your head starts pounding, try this infusion. It features pain-relieving lavender and peppermint plus lemon balm, a mild sedative. ** Natural Health -- Dec 96 **
