Title: Cissy's Bread and Butter Pickles

Yield: 8 Half pints
4 | qt | Sliced cucumbers |
6 | Sliced onions | |
2 | Green bell peppers, chopped | |
3 | Cloves garlic | |
2 | tb | Mustard seed |
1/3 | c | Salt |
5 | c | Sugar |
1 1/2 | ts | Celery seed |
3 | c | Cider vinegar |
Salt and put a bag of ice (8 lbs) over sliced cukes in a cooler. Let stand at least 3 hours or better, overnight. Drain. Combine rest of ingredients with to the cucumbers. Put in an open kettle and bring to a boil. Boil for three minutes, stirring constantly to keep sugar from sticking and burning. Remove from heat and ladle pickles and syrup into hot sterilized jars and seal immediately.
