4 | oz | Butter |
4 | tb | ;toasted white breadcrumbs |
1/2 | pt | White sauce |
4 | oz | Cheddar cheese; grated |

: Set oven to 400 F degrees or Mark 6. Butter a shallow ovenproof dish.
Peel, core and slice 4 of the apples and fry them gently in the butter.
Place the chicken in bottom of dish and put apple slices on top. Mix 3
ounces of cheese into the white sauce and pour over the apples. Season. Mix
the breadcrumbs with the remaining 1 ounce cheese and sprinkle over the
sauce. Cut the remaining apple into rings and toos (unpeeled) in the
butter; arrange neatly on top of the dish. Bake for 20 to 20 minutes until
