1cCorn-meal
2tbBrown sugar
3/4tsBaking soda
2 Eggs, well beaten
1cFlour
1tsSalt
1tsBaking powder
1/4cMelted shortening
1 1/2cSour milk

Sift flour, measure, and sift with baking soda, salt, and baking powder. Mix with corn-meal. Combine shortening, sugar, and eggs. Add sour milk and combine with dry ingredients. Beat only until smooth. Fill well-oiled shallow pan 2/3 full. Bake in hot oven (435ø F) 25-30 minutes. 8 servings. The Household Searchlight - 1941
