24 | oz | Strawberries |
2 | tb | Sugar |
2 | tb | Lemon juice |
17 | oz | Frozen puff pastry, thawed |
1 1/2 | c | Milk |
3 3/4 | oz | Instant vanilla pudding |
Whipped cream | ||
Powdered sugar |
Oven at 350F. Clean, hull, and slice strawberries into a large bowl. Add 1 Tb sugar and the lemon juice; toss gently. Chill. Cut each puff pastry sheet into six 5 x 3-in pieces. Prick pastry pieces and sprinkle with the remaining sugar. Place on baking sheets and bake for 20-25 min until lightly browned. Cool. Using the 1-1/2 c milk, prepare vanilla pudding according to package directions. Spoon pudding over 6 of the baked puff pastries. Spoon strawberries over pudding. Top with whipped cream. Place remaining 6 puff pastries over cream; sprinkle with powdered sugar.
M's note: there is no rule that says that you can't use real creme anglaise instead of instant vanilla cardboard.
