Cookie Preparation: Prepare and roll out cookie dough according to package directions. With star cutter, cut out 24 (2 1/2-inch) cookies, 18 (1 1/2-inch) cookies and 6 (1-inch) cookies. Reserve one small star for a tree topper. Sprinkle remaining cookies witb green crystal sugar. Sprinkle reserved small star with yellow crystal sugar. Bake and cool cookies as directed.
To Assemble Tree: Cut 5-inch diameter circle out of heavy cardboard. To make bottom layer of tree, arrange 5 large cookies in a circle on cardboard base. Using a star-tip and white icing, secure cookies to base. Build tree from bottom up with additional layers of cookies secured with icing. Use large cookies for bottom layers, medium-size cookies in the middle and small cookies on top. For tree topper, stand one small star on top and secure wlth frosting. Let tree stand for one hour.
To Decorate Tree: Squeeze about 3 tablespoons white icing into small bowl. Stir in 1 to 2 teaspoons of water to make a smooth glaze. Spread or brush icing on tips of cookies.
