Title: Black Walnut Devils

Yield: 16 Brownies
1/2 | c | Dark Karo syrup |
1/2 | c | Butter or margarine |
5 | oz | Semisweet chocolate chips |
1/4 | c | Sugar |
3 | Eggs | |
2 | ts | Vanilla |
1 | c | Unsifted flour |
1/2 | ts | Ground cloves |
1 | ts | Cinnamon |
1/2 | ts | Salt |
1 | c | Black walnuts; chopped |
Confectioners' sugar |
Grease and flour a 9-inch square pan. In a saucepan, bring syrup and margarine to a boil. Remove from heat and add chocolate, stirring until melted. Add sugar and blend well. Add eggs individually, beating after each addition. Add vanilla. Blend cloves, cinnamon and salt, then mix with flour and add to mixture. Add nuts. Pour into pan and bake at 350F for 30 minutes, or until edges shrink from pan. Cool 10 minutes in pan, then remove to rack. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.
