1/4 | c | Brown Sugar |
2 | Cloves | |
4 | tb | Butter, Plus Extra For The |

2 | Eggs -- Beaten | |
1 | c | Soft Bread Crumbs |
1 | ts | Ground Cinnamon |
2 | tb | Brown Sugar |
4 | tb | Butter |
Topping----- |
Peel, core and quarter the apples. Put the apples in a saucepan with 2 Tbsp. of water, the sugar and the heads of the cloves. Stir to dissolve the sugar then cook to a puree. Mix in the butter and lemon juice until absorbed. (I suggest removing the cloves, if you can find them.) Leave to cool. Mix in the beaten eggs. Butter an ovenproof dish and pour in the apple mixture. Make the topping by mixing the breadcrumbs, cinnamon and sugar. spread over the apple mixture. Dot with the butter. Cook in a preheated oven at 375 F for 20 to 30 mins. Serve warm or cool. Serves 4.
