Title: Maple Taffy Apples
Categories: Dessert Snack Apple Maple
Yield: 6 Servings
6 | md | Tart apples |
1/3 | c | Maple syrup |
1/2 | c | Brown sugar |
1 | tb | Soft butter |
1/4 | c | Water |
1 | ts | Lemon juice |
Ice water |
Wash the apples in warm water and dry well. Remove stems and insert heavy wooden skewers into the stem ends.
Combine maple syrup, brown sugar, butter, 1/4 cup water and lemon juice in a deep, heavy-bottomed saucepan. Stir over low heat until sugar dissolves. Raise heat to medium-high and bring to a full, rolling boil for eight to 10 minutes. Watch carefully and stir to prevent burning. Remove from heat.
Prepare a 4-inch deep pan of icewater. Working quickly, carefully immerse apples into hot syrup, twising to coat evenly. Dip quickly into icewater to set, then place apples on a greased tray. Cool completely in the fridge before serving.
