2 | c | All-purpose flour, sifted |
2 | tb | Sugar |
1/2 | ts | Salt |
1/4 | ts | Baking soda |
2 | ts | Baking powder |
1/4 | c | Shortening |
3/4 | c | Dairy sour cream |
2 | tb | Butter, melted |
| | Sugar for sprinkling |
Combine first five dry ingredients in a mixing bowl and cut in shortening
with a pastry blender till mixture has texture of moist crumbs. Then stir
in sour cream to make a soft dough. Dust hands with flour. Knead dough ball
7-8 times. Roll out dough to half-inch thickness and cut into 2-inch
rounds. Brush each side of round with melted butter and place on baking
sheet. Sprinkle tops with sugar. Bake in 450F oven 8-10 minutes or till
golden browned. Serve mounded over with fresh strawberries and thick cream.
