1 1/2 | c | Sugar |

1 | ts | Vanilla |
1/2 | ts | Lemon extract |
1/2 | ts | Orange extract |
2 1/2 | c | Sifted all purpose flour |
1 | ts | Soda |
1 | ts | Cream of tartar |
TOPPING VARIATIONS | ||
ORANGE TOPPING | ||
1/4 | c | Sugar |
1 | ts | Grated orange rind |
1/2 | ts | Grated lemon rind |
SPICY NUT TOPPING | ||
2 | tb | Finely chopped pecans |
1 | tb | Brown sugar |
2 | tb | White sugar |
1/2 | ts | Nutmeg |
CHOCOLATE TOPPING | ||
1/4 | c | Finely chopped chocolate Jimmies |
COLORED SUGAR TOPPING | ||
Red or green colored sugar |
For cookies, cream butter; add sugar gradually. Beat in eggs, vanilla and extracts. Blend in sifted dry ingredients. Chill over night.
Shape dough into one inch balls. Roll unbaked cookies in any of the Topping Variations.
Place on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for about 12 minutes.
For Topping Variations, choose one or more variation, combine each and place in small bowl. Roll unbaked cookies in the toppings and then bake.
