Title: Liquid Soap & Soap Gels
Categories: Soap *
Yield: 1 Batch

LIQUID SOAP INGREDIENTS
2ozGrated basic soap
8ozWater
SOAP GEL INGREDIENTS
2ozGrated basic soap
5ozWater

1. Select a basic soap recipe and a hand-milled soap recipe. Make a batch of basic soap, then grate the soap and permit it to dry for only a few days. Measure 12 oz of the grated soap and mix in any additives, fragrances, and/or colors, making sure to add them in the proportions given in your selected hand-milled soap recipe.

2. Place the grated soap and water in a saucepan. Note that soap gels require less water than do liquid soap.

3. Heat the mixture gently, trying not to use too vigorously. To help the soap melt completely, use a whisk to break up any small pieces.

4. When the soap has melted, check its consistency by placing a spoonful in a small dish and cooling the dish in a cold-water batch. If the soap seems too thin or too thick at room temperature, add a little more water or grated soap, and reheat if necessary.

5. When its consistency is correct, pour the soap into the container of your choice.
