Title: Witch Hazel Body Lotion
Categories: Lotion
Yield: 6 Ounces
1/4 | c | Sunflower oil (or any light oil) |
1 | tb | Stearic acid powder |
1/2 | c | Distilled water |
1/2 | ts | Baking soda |
2 | tb | Witch hazel |
Mix together the sunflower oil and the stearic acid powder. Gently heat the oil and stearic acid mixture in a glass container in a pan of water until the stearic acid has dissolved.
When the stearic acid has melted, mix together the water and baking soda. Heat the water solution gently until it is the same temperature as the oil mixture (put the water solution in the microwave for 1 minute on High for use the stovetop).
Pour the water/baking soda mixture into a blender and blend on low. Slowly add the oil mixture in a thin, steady stream. You can also mix by hand, but the blender is quicker and easier.
Allow the mixture to cool. When the lotion is cool, stir in the witch hazel. You can also add a scent at this time if you wish. Pour into a clean jar or lotion bottle with a tight fitting lid.
