Title: English Ivy Body Massage
Categories: Cleanser *
Yield: 4 Ounces
20 | Fresh English ivy leaves | |
1 | c | Distilled water |
1/4 | c | Almond oil |
1 1/2 | ts | Grated beeswax |
For years ivy has been used by women as a cure for cellulite because it stimulates circulation and helps rid the body of excess fluids. This lovey green massage cream is a wonderful treat before a shower, and a great way to start the day. It's especially effective when combined with steam from the bath or shower.
In a blender or food processor, blend together the ivy leaves and distilled water on high speed for 1 minute. Strain this green ivy water into a clean jar and discard what you have strained off. Measure 1/2 c ivy water and mix with the powdered borax. Set aside.
Mix together in an ovenproof glass container the almond oil and beeswax. Gently heat the oil-wax mixture until the wax has melted. You can do this by microwaving for 1 to 2 minutes on High, or by placing the oil-wax container in a water bath on the stove top.
When the wax has melted, heat the ivy water mixture, but do not boil. Use the microwave for 1 minute on High, or place the ivy mixture in the same water bath you have used to melt the wax. Now, slowly, pour the ivy mixture into the oil mixture. Pour the entire mixture into a blender and blend on high speed for 1 to 2 minutes, or stir vigorously with a small whisk. Pour the mixture into a clean container and allow to cool completely. You will have a lovely, thick, green cream.
To use: Before showering, take a small amount of the ivy massage cream in your hand and massage into your body. Give special attention to your legs, hips and buttocks. In the shower, using a clean cotton wash cloth, scrub your whole body with warm water. Before leaving the shower, rinse your body with the coldest water you can stand.
