Title: Manicure for Healthy Hands & Nails

Once a week you should give yourself a manicure - this is essential for healthy nails and soft hands. These same steps can be followed for the feet and toenails by giving yourself a pedicure.

1. Remove all traces of nail polish by using a mild nail polish remover and cotton.

2. Soak your nails and fingertips in warm, soapy water for at least 5 minutes. This softens the cuticles and rinses off all the nail polish remover.

3. Apply cuticle cream to the base of your nails. Massage the cream into the cuticles. Gently push back your cuticles with a cotton-tipped stick. Never cut your cuticles.

4. File the nails into rounded ovals - never points - and make sure all mails are the same length. Nothing looks worse than four short nails and one long one, or vice versa.

5. Make a hand mask, using your favorite facial mask recipe on your hands. Rinse well with cool water and pat dry.

6. Massage your entire hand with a rich hand cream or oil. Wrap your hand in plastic wrap or put on cotton gloves and leave on at least 30 minutes, or better, overnight.

7. To polish your nails, rub some light vegetable or mineral oil into them and buff for a natural shine. Buffing also helps increase the circulation and results in healthier nails.

*Push back your cuticles every time you wash your hands or apply hand cream.

*Never cut your cuticles. The cuticle protects the nail by sealing off the opening between the nail and skin.
