1 | cn | Sweetened condensed milk |
3 | c | Hot water |
2 | c | Finely diced bread or soft Bread crumbs |
3 | | Eggs, slightly beaten |
1 | tb | Butter, melted |
1/2 | ts | Salt |
1 | ts | Vanilla or grated lemon rind |
VARIATION |
1 | c | Shredded coconut |
GARNISHES |
| | Whipped cream OR |
| | Your favorite sauce OR |
| | Your favorite jelly |
Combine sweetened condensed milk and hot water. Pour over bread and let
stand until lukewarm. Stir in eggs, butter, salt and vanilla or lemon rind.
Pour into greased 1-1/2-qt. casserole or baking dish. Set in shallow pan of
hot water. Bake 350 until a knife blade inserted near the center comes out
dlean, about 1 hr. Serve hot or cold with cream, fruit or preserves. BREAD
PUDDING DELUXE: Porceed as for the Bread Pudding, and add 1 c. shredded
coconut to the pudding just before baking. Garnish with whipped cream, your
favorite sauce or jelly.
