1cnSweetened condensed milk
3cHot water
2cFinely diced bread or soft Bread crumbs
3 Eggs, slightly beaten
1tbButter, melted
1/2tsSalt
1tsVanilla or grated lemon rind
VARIATION
1cShredded coconut
GARNISHES
  Whipped cream OR
  Your favorite sauce OR
  Your favorite jelly

Combine sweetened condensed milk and hot water. Pour over bread and let stand until lukewarm. Stir in eggs, butter, salt and vanilla or lemon rind. Pour into greased 1-1/2-qt. casserole or baking dish. Set in shallow pan of hot water. Bake 350 until a knife blade inserted near the center comes out dlean, about 1 hr. Serve hot or cold with cream, fruit or preserves. BREAD PUDDING DELUXE: Porceed as for the Bread Pudding, and add 1 c. shredded coconut to the pudding just before baking. Garnish with whipped cream, your favorite sauce or jelly.
