Title: Foolproof Cheese and Bacon Bread for the R2 D2

1/2 | tb | Yeast |
3 | c | Flour, bread |
1 | tb | Sugar |
1/2 | ts | Baking soda |
1 | ts | Salt |
2 | tb | Buttermilk, powdered |
2 | tb | Butter |
2 | Eggs | |
1 1/8 | c | Water |
ADD AT BEEP | ||
1 3/4 | oz | Bacon bits, dried |
8 | oz | Cheese, shredded |
Dried salad toppings or finely-chopped beef jerky may be substituted for the bacon bits. 1-3/4 oz is 1/2 jar, roughly 3/4 c.
Bring all except last two ingredients to room temperature and add to breadmaker, in order. Set baking control to 12 o'clock. Select "white bread" and push Start. Add last two ingredients at beep, 88 minutes into cycle.
In hot and humid weather, use 1/8 c less water.
Tested in DAK R2D2 and Zojirushi S-15A. Sylvia's comments: This is a substantial bread with a silky texture. Made a great snack bread for the kids. I've tried it with both Cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses, and both came out fine.
