Title: Homemade Brandy and Brandied Fruit
Categories: Beverages Fruit
Yield: 1 Servings
I made my own brandy several times a number of years ago. You can start out
with a can of peaches in heavy syrup and a cup of sugar and a package of
dry yeast in a large crock with a lid at room temperature. Stir it once a
day and each week add a different kind of fruit, like a jar of marachino
cherries with the juice, a can of apricots, peeled and cored apples, light
raisins, crushed pineapple, etc. along with more sugar and once in a while
more yeast. The fruit settles on the bottom and the brandy rises to the
top. I started in the early part of October and had brandy and brandied
fruit for Christmas. You can "can" the brandied fruit and give it as gifts
to serve warm over ice cream. I don't have a real recipe -- my mother made
it like this and I have made it successfully too. Strain it for a thick
brandy. Ummmmmmm Posted by Celeste Yost From: Celeste Yost Date: 05-24-96
