Title: Date and Coconut Slices (Aus Herb Soc)
Categories: Fruit Snack
Yield: 1 Servings
8 | oz | Flour |
8 | oz | Stoneless dates |
2 | oz | Margarine |
4 | oz | Fat |
1 | oz | Brown sugar |
1 | oz | Coconut |
Make the flour and fat into a short pastry crust and roll into two oblongs about 10 x 7 inches. Place one oblong on an ungreased baking tray and spread on it the filling, prepared by mincing the dates and adding to them the sugar, melted margarine and the coconut. Cover with the remainder of the pastry. Seal the edges and make snips in the top to let out the steam. Use scissors to make the snips. Three rows with about five snips in each willbe sufficient.
Bake on a runner just above the middle of the oven for about 25 minutes. Serve hot as a sweet or cold.
