"It appears there are many enthusiastic cooks who search for special recipes - not necessarily to use them but to add them to their collections. These two are for Mrs Verfeld of Port Lincoln who was looking for old recipes named Golden Cake and Silver Cake."
GOLDEN CAKE: Beat butter and sugar to a cream, whisk eggs and add them to the mixture, then add flour. Stir in bicarb and cream of tartar. Put in greased tim dusted with fine biscuit crumbs and bake for 1 1/2 hours in moderate oven (175 deg C).
SILVER CAKE: Make same way as Golden Cake. Whites of eggs left from Golden Cake can be used for Silver Cake. Put into a greased tin and bake in moderate oven.
