1/3 | c | Shortening |
1/2 | c | Sugar |
3/4 | c | Maple syrup |
1/3 | c | Milk |
2 1/4 | c | Flour |
1/2 | ts | Salt |
3 | ts | Baking powder |
3 | Egg whites | |
1 | ts | Vanilla |
Cream the shortening and sugar. Add the syrup and stir. Sift together flour, salt, and baking powder, then add this mixture to the shortening alternately with the milk. Fold in the beaten egg whites, add vanilla, and bake in a greased oblong pan (about 9 x 4). Bake 35 minutes at 350.
