Title: Pumpkin Fig Cookies

1 1/4 | c | Flour, sifted |
1 1/2 | ts | Salt |
1 | ts | Baking powder |
1/4 | ts | Baking soda |
3/4 | c | Oats, old-fashioned or quick |
1 | c | Brown sugar, firmly packed |
3/4 | c | Sugar |
1/2 | c | Shortening |
1 | ts | Cinnamon |
1/2 | ts | Nutmeg |
1 | Egg | |
1 | c | Pumpkin, canned or fresh |
1 | c | Figs, dried; chopped |
3/4 | c | Walnuts; chopped |
1 | tb | Orange peel; grated |
Mix and sift flour, salt, baking powder, and soda; stir in oats; set aside. Cream sugars with shortening and spices; beat in egg. Add flour mixture alternately with pumpkin. Stir in dried figs, walnuts and orange peel. Drop by Tablespoons on greased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 F degrees for about 15 minutes.
