Title: Mustachudo (Almond Sweet for Passover)

1 | c | Sugar |
1 | c | Water |
2 | c | Walnuts or almonds or half & half, ground |
1 | Egg, beaten | |
Confectioner's sugar |
These nut sweets are usually prepared in advance of Passover and served during days of Seders and afterward.
1. Mix sugar and water together in a pan and bring to a boil. Simmer over low heat for 5 to 10 mins.
2. Add nuts and continue to cook for 5 mins or a little more so that mixture will becomes firm. To test this, take 1 teaspoon, cool it enough to handle, and roll it in a ball to see if it holds together. If it does not, cook for another 2 to 3 mins.
3. Remove pan from heat, let it cool for 2 mins, then pour egg into mix- ture & stir it rapidly. Cool well, then shape into balls 1-" in diameter. When balls are completely cool, roll them in confectioner's sugar. Serve w/Turkish coffee. Makes abt 25 balls.
